Finally, let’s look at the risers and fallers…
Risers
Nicolas Jackson (FWD, £7m)
Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea are starting to turn in performances that reflect the plethora of talent available to the Argentinian. The Blues have lost just once in their last 12 outings – albeit that was a 5-0 shellacking at the hands of Arsenal in Gameweek 34 – and have scored at least twice in nine of their last ten fixtures. Jackson has now established himself as the clear first-choice striker and has three goals and an assist in his last two fixtures. A double fixture against Nottingham Forest (A) and Brighton (A) provides the opportunity for more big points in Gameweek 37.
Noni Madueke (MID, £5.3m)
We flagged the talented Madueke as a riser last week and the winger came up trumps, bagging a goal, an assist and 13 FPL points for managers who backed him. He looks a surefire starter in this attack, a fact that clearly isn’t reflected in his price.
Erling Haaland (FWD, £14.2m)
Haaland’s fallow period was never going to last. The Norwegian was back to his dominant best in Gameweek 37 as he smashed in four goals and completely overwhelmed a tired Wolves outfit. With City out of the Champions League, rotation appears unlikely ahead of a double fixture against Fulham and Spurs. Once again, Haaland is the obvious captaincy pick in FPL.
Fallers
Micky van de Ven (DEF, £4.4m)
Spurs look shattered and are conceding goals hand-over-fist. Van de Ven does have an eye for the onion bag but even two home fixtures in Gameweek 37, against aren’t enough to keep the Dutchman out of fallers this week.
Andre Onana (GK, £5m)
Given Manchester United are currently starting Casemiro and Jonny Evans at centre-back, it’s no wonder they got turned over by Crystal Palace in Gameweek 36. Despite this, Onana has been picked by 15 per cent of FPL managers, presumably hoping to benefit from their double fixture in Gameweek 37. Frankly they could have six games and we’d still be hesitant about picking their defensive assets. As it is, they play two of the form attacks in the league – Arsenal (H) and Newcastle (H) – and are likely to ship plenty of goals.
Ivan Toney (FWD, £7.7m)
No form and no double fixture in Gameweek 37 means there’s no case for gambling on England international Toney for Brentford’s seaside trip to Bournemouth.
That’s it for this edition. Thanks for reading and good luck in Gameweek 37.
