You shouldn’t buy shares in a company just because you like it, you should like the price too. You may think Tesla is going to become the biggest car maker in the world, but if its shares are already priced on the assumption that it is going to be bigger than all other car companies combined then you need to rethink whether to buy them.
The same principles apply to Fantasy Premier League players. You may like player X but if he is already priced as if he is going to be a superstar then it might be not worth it.
So, with that in mind, here is a list of players whose price is based on assumptions that have changed since the game was launched for this season and are now wrong, making them interesting options for your team. Finding these sorts of players is vital to getting value and making the most of your £100 million in FPL…
Please note: This list will be updated and expanded as we get closer to the start of the season:
Goalkeepers
Ward, Leicester, £4 million - priced as back-up to Schmeichel but looks like he could now start for Leicester
Defenders
Dalot, Man United, £4.5 million - priced as back-up or rotational option with Wan-Bissaka but pre-season suggests he could be starting full-back, and an attacking one at that, in improved Man United team
N.Williams, Forest, £4 million - priced as Liverpool back-up but now likely starter in Forest team which was strong in defence last season
Patterson, Everton, £4 million - signed from Rangers for around £11 million in January but didn’t play last season, partly due to injury. Played at right wing-back in pre-season and in contention to start against Chelsea on opening day
Zinchenko, Arsenal, £5 million - gone from City back-up to Arsenal starter, potentially in midfielder
Midfielders
Luis Diaz, Liverpool, £8 million - was at risk of rotation but Mane subsequently sold to Bayern Munich
Sterling, Man City, £10 million - priced on basis that he will be rotated at Man City and play in the shadow of De Bruyne, but now at Chelsea and potentially in more advanced role too
Andreas, Fulham, £4.5 million - Man United back-up now likely to be starter for Fulham in attacking midfield position
Bailey, Aston Villa, £5 million - a flop in first season and priced as such, but playing well and starting in pre-season games. Scored nine goals in final Bundesliga season with Bayer Leverkusen
Bowen, West Ham, £8.5 million - scored 206 points last season, more than De Bruyne (£12 million), Sterling (£10 million) and Fernandes (£10 million), but priced well below those players. FPL price suggests last season was a one-off. Was it?
Rashford, Man United, £6.5 million- scored 10, 17 and 11 goals in three Premier League seasons before a disappointing four in 2021/22. This has led to his price dropping from £9.5 million a year ago to £6.5 million now. However, looked sharp in pre-season and confident under new manager, suggesting last season could have been a blip
Forwards
Jesus, Arsenal, £8 million - Similar to Sterling. Man City back-up who is now the main man in team that finished 5th last season. Currently in 64 per cent of FPL teams, making him most popular player
Martial, Man United, £7 million - a forgotten man after loan spell at Seville but could be main striker and performed well in pre-season. Ronaldo’s future is key, however, and must be tracked. Priced at £8 million and £9 million in last two seasons before this
Broja, Chelsea, £5.5 million - one to watch at the moment but lots of transfer rumours around him. Could go from being Chelsea back-up to starter elsewhere.

Some alternatives to keep an eye on that appear to be mispriced around the 5-6mil price range.
Morgan Gibbs-White at Wolves. Mid 5.5m. Good opening fixtures, Jimenez is injured and he is playing center of a front 3. Looked good in preseason.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall at Leicester. Mid 5m. Looked good at the end of last season and could be the one to benefit the most if Maddison leaves.
Joe Willock at Newcastle. Mid 5m. Seems to have a spot in the Newcastle team, playing advanced alongside Wilson. One to monitor.
Martinelli could be big hauler this season. Tbc what starting 11 Arsenal settle on.
