We have been overwhelmed with the interest and it’s been a lot of fun pulling these pieces together with you. As promised, here is everything we have written so far, in one place, ahead of the start of the season on Friday. Some of these pieces have been updated since we initially sent them out so they are worth looking at again if you have already read them. Remember, you have until 18.30 on Friday evening to register your team for Gameweek 1
An introduction to the ZeroForward strategy we are advocating for this season. In short, deprioritise spending on the forward position (aim to spend less than £20 million on it) and make the most of the value on offer in defence and midfield (especially defence). Look to play 5-4-1 with a collection of the elite attacking defenders (Alexander-Arnold, Robertson, Cancelo, James) or 4-5-1 if you prefer the midfield options. This strategy could include picking Haaland in a 5-4-1 with two cheap alternative forwards on the bench, putting Jesus together with two cheaper forwards of £6 million or less, or picking three £6 million to £7 million forwards and rotating them every week depending on their performance and fixtures (Toney, Mitrovic and Johnson is an example I have seen)…
